Guidelines
This page outlines recommended practices for installing, powering, operating, and integrating the AeroMind™ A2M6x flight controller to ensure maximum reliability and mission safety.
1. Mounting & Installation
- Ensure the IMU orientation matches the UAV’s forward direction.
- Use anti-vibration mounts (e.g., foam pads or rubber grommets) to minimise sensor noise.
- Avoid high-EMI areas, especially near ESCs, power cables, and RF transmitters.
- Maintain sufficient airflow in enclosed or high-temperature environments.
2. Power Guidelines
- Use a regulated power supply capable of delivering 5V at 2A.
- Double-check the power polarity before connection to avoid hardware damage.
- Perform a voltage and continuity check before each deployment.
- Avoid simultaneous powering via USB and power module unless explicitly supported.
3. Logging Best Practices
- Use a MicroSD (TF) card formatted to FAT32 (up to 32 GB supported).
- Insert the card before powering on to enable automatic blackbox logging.
- Regularly backup and clear log files to prevent corruption or write errors.
- Inspect logs after each mission for early signs of anomalies.
4. Companion Computer Integration
- Compatible with Jetson, Raspberry Pi, and similar systems via UART or Ethernet.
- Always match the baud rate between the flight controller and companion computer.
- Use MAVLink routing through TELEM or CAN for stable communication.
- Secure connectors to prevent disconnection during flight.
5. Pre-Flight Checks
Before every mission, run through the following checklist:
- ✅ IMU, GPS, and compass status show OK in the Ground Control Station (GCS).
- ✅ Telemetry link is stable and within expected signal range.
- ✅ Flight mode, failsafe behaviours, and return-to-launch (RTL) parameters are configured.
- ✅ PID tuning is optimised for your airframe and payload.
- ✅ Battery levels and power rail voltages are nominal.
🛠️ 6. Troubleshooting Quick Reference
Symptom | Likely Cause | Suggested Action |
---|---|---|
No power | Faulty wiring or BEC issue | Check power cable polarity and output voltage |
No IMU data | Mounting/firmware problem | Verify sensor alignment, check system logs |
No telemetry | Baud mismatch / loose cable | Set matching baud rates and reseat connectors |
Logs missing | TF card issue | Format to FAT32 and insert before powering on |
